“The world has become a small village” we usually use this phrase to express what the technology did in the field of work, and how it removed all borders between different cultures and nationalities. Most of the companies nowadays become multinational companies; they only search for creativity and efficiency. But having a foreign manager my hinder communication, you and your manager have different cultures; it may be harder to communicate with your manager because of different culture and concepts.
Try to establish a good work relationship with your boss, know about his cultural background, his traditions and customs, ask him about his experiences and try to discover his skills, then package all of this with your amazing performance in finishing work tasks, this will build a bridge of trust between you and your manager.
If you feel that your boss has a negative stereotype about your culture or your environment, change it by your performance and the way you act in general.
Focus on those common points between you and your manager; of course there is something common between you, some common traditions, those could be considered points of strengths in building a good relationship with your boss.
You deal with your boss through a screen and some mails? This relationship will be so boring by time, try to know the holidays and special events in your manager’s country to share him the celebration, make it more familiar to break the ice, this affect the work positively.
When dealing with different cultures you earn a lot of knowledge, different way of thinking and new experiences in short time, try to learn from your foreign boss.
Difference doesn’t mean hard communication, search for strengths points and focus on it, interact positively and show your skills, experiences and abilities in the best way.
